The Lloyd District lies across the Willamette River from downtown Portland and is easily accessible by the MAX light rail, the Vintage Trolley, and several Tri-Met bus routes. Carless workers who commute to the Lloyd District are eligible to join Flexcar, the nation's largest car sharing service.

One of Oregon's largest malls, the Lloyd Center, is located in the Lloyd District. The mall boasts over 200 stores, a large food court, and movie theaters, all surrounding a central ice rink - as well as a covered parking garage which is a popular feature during Portland's rainy winters.

Also found in the Lloyd District are the Rose Quarter, which includes the 12,000-seat Memorial Coliseum and 40,000-square foot Exhibit Hall, as well as the Rose Garden, a 20,000-seat multi-purpose arena. The Rose Garden is home of the NBA Portland Trailblazers basketball team, the WHL Winter Hawks Ice Hockey team, and a new National Lacrosse League expansion team. The Rose Garden also hosts many of the city's largest events and popular music concerts.

The Oregon Convention Center is located at the west end of the Lloyd District and has recently expanded in size to include a 255,000 square foot exhibit hall, two ballrooms and 50 meeting rooms. The Convention Center's modern twin glass spires are one of Portland's favorite landmarks.
